A word of warning if buying this router. The one I got (not bought from this site) was brand new but wouldnt work out of the box.

On powering up, the power light blinks red \ green. I did everything netgear say to set the router up both manually and via the smart wizard without any joy.

Netgera say this is a sign of an internal fault. However, Ive learned from other sources the blinking red \ green power light may be because the router had no firmware on it!

How on earth can netgear ship an item in that state?

This router was straight forward to set up, the 5Ghz works brilliantly with my iMac (late 2009) over the 5ghz spectrum, with all my other gear operating over 2.4ghz, I could not ask for a better robust and straight forward to use bit of kit. QOS is great, well recommended, service from Broadband buyer was superb as usual.

Does what any other wireless router does.... 5Ghz was reason of purchase and devices such as my iPhone and still connect to the 2.4 range which is brill!

Found the lights and WPS button alittle confusing at first but got there in the end. (Maybe as I dont read manuals)!?!

Works well does what its meant to for a home consumer product. Happy!

Not much to add to the above review by Leigh as this is a very good router just a couple of extra things that haven’t been mentioned.

The router uses the Broadcom 6358 chip so works great with O2 and BE it also syncs higher than the DGN2000 it replaced and also works with the DMT tool.

The blue LED’s can be turned off if you push and hold the dome for 2 seconds should they annoy you.
Rating 5/5 Excellent so far

This is an early review so will post another if something happens! The set up of this router is excellent (it auto-detected my ADSL and was connected within seconds) and it is worth having dual band if you have dual band adapters - the router has two SSIDs, one for 5GHz 802.11a/n and the other at 2.4GHz for 802.11b/g which keeps the airwaves nice a free. The connection on both frequencies seems to be solid and reliable although with 8 aerials I would have expected full signal over the other side of the house, whereas it drops a bar. Router includes a good firewalls, QoS (WMM) for gaming and video traffic etc and even the ability to automatically check online for firmware updates. All in all, seems to be a fantastic product that I am very pleased with. The only small thing I would have liked is the ability to disable the 8 blue LEDs on the top of the device because you find yourself covering them over at night if you sleep in the same room! Anyway, well done Netgear!
