Mine had no documentation about the static address. The setup program simply failed to detect the bridge regardless. I guessed it had no dhcp server and tried a few static addresses until I found one that worked. Then used web browser setup. After lots of hangups and failures it eventually locked up and became unusable. I will now buy a buffalo bridge from BBB. Not recommended. Why the documentation says nothing about the setup PC having a static address beggars belief, most PCs use dhcp nowadays.

Unlike the other user reviews, WET54G is a perfect bridge and
very dependable. We use it at many supermarkets to connect ethernet-enabled(non Wi-fi) POS machines to the local wireless network to do transactions over the internet. They are used almost 18 hours a day, non-stop and no problem so far. We did not have configuration and security problem. Although it is expensive, it is worth to have it.

Needed unit to connect XBox to wireless system at home...using Linksys WAG54GX2 which is excellent. Unit failed at setup stage, nothing Linksys tech support could do to get it to work...returned to BBB and received replacement unit. Unit failed at setup stage, nothing Linksys could do to get it to work...therefore have given up and will replace it with bridge from Buffalo as recommended by BBB.

Therefore from my experience to be avoided.
Rating 0/5 Beware - does not support WPA-PSK. Error in documentation.

I recently purchased this because it has the Cisco name on the box. Beware - even though it clearly states WPA support on the Linksys website and the box it comes in, Linksys's Bridge will NOT work with a wireless router that uses the WPA-PSK encryption protocol – this has been confirm by calls to Linksys's technical support line. Doh!

Another minor niggle. The documentation regarding initial setup via a static IP address is WRONG! Linksys say the login name is 'admin' and the pass is left blank, this will not work; you will be bounced back to the login window. the password is also "admin". Very frustrating!

Very shoddy from such a reputable manufacturer – avoid!
Rating 2/5 not great

Well i bought it in January and am now on my 3rd one. The use was to connect a hub with a machine and an xbox to the wireless. I have to cycle the power to get it to connect alot of the time. If it idles for any length of time the powerhas to be cycled. Although I have days when it works well. Linksys have been great with their technical support but unfortunately the device isn't up to much. The overall connectivity has been flakey and has been tried with many different security settings and without, also with different access points.
