The ZyXEL PowerLine HomePlug AV 200Mbps (PLA-401) creates a simple high performance home network ideal for streaming high definition video content, audio streaming, gaming and Internet connectivity. It allows your home to be completely networked using your existing plug sockets with setup consisting of 2 easy steps:

1) Connect your PLA-401 to any existing plug socket and router
2) Connect another PLA-401 to any networked device and then plug in

HomePlug AV is a 200 Mbps-class powerline networking technology designed specifically to meet the needs of digital multimedia networks in the home.

New Internet services like "Triple Play" with features such as streaming HDTV, VoIP telephony, Console connectivity (PS3/360) and high-speed Internet need a lot of bandwidth. Data must be transmitted with both maximum speed and optimum quality. With transfer rates of up to 200 Mbps, the new HomePlug AV adapters are ideal for these demanding tasks. Connected to a household electrical socket, it instantly transforms the household electrical wiring into a fast network for high data throughput. It does all of this with optimal transmission and maximum data security. Whether at home or the office – you can take advantage of the latest services wherever you like. The exceptional range of 200 meters gives you plenty of flexibility. Modems, routers, set-top boxes and PCs – all of these devices can be connected to the HomePlug AV adapters using the existing Ethernet interface.

The advantages of using HomePlug AV as the baseline technology for HomePlug BPL include the following:
