A Fibre Router allows you to take advantage of the latest Fibre, Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) and Fibre to the Home / Premises (FTTH / FTTP) services and offers flexibility needed to share your high speed Fibre Broadband with a mixture of wired and wireless connectivity or just pure wireless connectivity without the need of the main computer being switched on. BroadbandBuyer.co.uk has an extensive range of Fibre Routers for residential users and small to medium sized businesses. We also provide solutions where additional functionality is required, such as VoIP and secure VPN access. With various speeds and types of Fibre Broadband available, please read the following carefully.
Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP), also often referred to as Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) provides and end-to-end fibre optic connection the full distance from the exchange to the building and can deliver faster speeds than FTTC as there is no copper leg at all.
Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) involves running fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange or distribution point to the street cabinets which then connect to a standard phone line to provide broadband. This is combined with a copper cable from the cabinet to the home or business which uses VDSL or similar technology that can deliver much faster speeds over shorter distances.
Most Broadband Routers are not compatible with the technology used with Fibre Broadband. You will therefore need to swap your existing ADSL/Cable Router for a Fibre Router that provides the throughput speeds and connection required to maximise fibre broadband usage. If you currently have an ADSL router with a built in ADSL modem, this will NOT work with the FTTC.
